The Answer Page

What is it?

This is a 72 Volt Electric Roadster called the Tropica.

How fast does it go?

I've taken the car down I-5 in San Diego at 72 Mph. And as long as I'm not trying to go up a steep hill, I can maintain those speeds.

How far does it go?

I've driven it at 35-45mph for 52 miles on a single charge. (From my house to Oceanside and back. But, that is realtively flat terrain.) I now drive the car to and from work, and that is at 45-60 mph up and down hills for a distance of 18 miles. But I have a charging station at work .

How long does it take to charge?

For a fully-drained battery pack, it'll take 6-8 hours to fully recharge, but I can get a 85% charge in about 90 mins. The remaining 6-7 hours is used to trickle charge the rest of the battery.

How much does it cost?

I bought this car from Mission Viejo Land Rover for $18,000. But with a Federal 10% Tax Credit, and additional State Tax Credits I should end up paying only about $15,000.

Who Makes it?

This car is one of the first 15 cars made by Renaissance Cars of Palm Bay Florida. Currently, they are not in manufacturing now, but hopefully they will find more funding and manufacturer thousands. But if you want an Electric, you can make, build, or buy one now.
